To quote from one of my favourite poems:

"So sweet a face, such angel grace" Lord Alfred Tennyson

Thank you for sharing your beloved.

Hi Enocia,

It's interesting that the Beggar Maid, should spring to mind.

I've always thought that this particular pic is beautiful because it catches a facet of Leah that isn't usually discernable with the naked eye. She looks a bit sad and a bit bedraggled.

It reminds me of the promo pic they used for 'Les Miserables'

Yes, Beggar maid indeed (the childminder is on holiday at the moment, Leah has spotted the opportunity to get into Dad's ribs for some serious goodies acquisition (little imp)). We're going to Styal Woods today (it's pouring down). Going to show her how much fun a magic forest can be in the rain (or she is going to show me, don't know which yet).

Hi Shy, I'm fine. Iv'e been filling cardboard boxes with books and nic-nacs

Yes! I can see it.

Beggar maid is one of my favourite poems. Regardless of appearances, essence is always shining through.

It's pissing it down outside right now as I write this.

Woods in the rain with all that mud, humm, beauty experts say mud is good for your skin. What do they know?

Well it is my virtual day today, the day I am dreaming I was born into this world.

Have a good one.

Love EJ

We are doused, we are sodden. We are glorious and victorious.

There is a little footbridge over a stream (feeding the River Bolin), Kingfisher Bridge. It is very old and very small, the arch is just high enough to fit a bowed adult and is made from blocks of stone, stained green with age.

If ever there was a bridge made to house a sneaky troll this is it. In the absence of a goat we decided that we must do our civic duty and banish said Troll to the other side of the bank.

Leah slipped on the stream bed, and ended up on her bum, so I sat down next to her out of solidarity. Then a Springer Spaniel (immediately dubbed 'Jerry'). happened along and decided that splashing about in a stream with a couple of two-legs was an idea whose time had come. This, with all the exuberance that Springers are reknowned for. The Dogs owner was a little perturbed when Jerry didn't want to follow but would rather soak itself to the skin (I had to force myself not to offer the woman a birth in the foam " come on in the water's lovely", (it wasn't, it was bloody freezing).

Even so, I had been sharp enough to load the car with a spare set of duds so we didn't have to traipse about chilled to the marrow (I forgot the towel though, so no brownie points for me).

Being born. I remember spending ages trying to get out and most of my adult life trying to get back in (if only I could remember which tunnel to take) ;-)

I just can't resist a one-liner, can I?

"Trip, trap, trip, trap!" went the bridge.

"Who's that tripping over my bridge?" roared the troll.

I never realised there was another version of "3 Billy Goat Gruff" including a dog, a man and a little girl splashing about in the river. Silly me, must be the northern version. :-) I've heard of revisionism...forget it, what would northerners know about revisionism? Hahaha.

[[I just can't resist a one-liner, can I?]]

Incorrigibly, encouragable!

I see you got paid a visit earlier by our blog-artist friend aka uncle spam. Sympathetic person that I am all I can say is this: Remember that Skol advert when they sang Skol, Skol, Skol, Skol? Here's an alternative:

Spam, spam, spam, spam!
