Temptation

Leaning over, she kissed me on the lips
I never saw it coming, over the cup, between sips
'I'll bet that surprised you', she offered
It had, but I'd liked it though. Cap Doffed
Forever a winning tactic during scrabble
We'd given up keeping score, just dabbled
Moving onward, passing, biding, time-wasting
Wine and Chesterfields on tongues, tasting
Until later, as the latch snicked into it's keep
Two integrities intact, happily alone to sleep

Aloha Shy,

A romantic? Me?

I suppose, I've had my moments (is tantric a deception with leather)

Groan, yet another corny pun (I'm trying hard not to spoonerise here).

i.e. What's the difference between a bad comedian and a brothel?

One has corny puns...

Ouch!!!

The guy laughing is me (dig the pink shirt), the bald guy blowing a kiss was my co-author on that project (he is the talented one).

It was taken on one of the sets (brew break) of a comedy pilot we filmed for the BBC (having a pop, later bought by UK play). Pat (baldy) is also a BBC in-house writer (radio mostly). He is the miscreant responsible for Fat Harry White, a double-entendre spoof of Barry White, which used to go out on The Marc and Lard show.

He used to get £500 a week for writing a 3 minute daily slot (sometimes I would help him if we were pushed). Lotsa fun was had by all.

Harry White sample:-

I had the vicar's wife 'round my gaff the other day, she can't get enough of my beef wellington and I was showing her how to do it so she could teach the vicar. I was just about to put the meat in at 180 degrees and we were disturbed by Tom the postman banging on the front door. My giant amarillis had come.

The vicar's wife couldn't belive it when she clapped eyes on my enormous bulb and she told me if I found a decent plot it would shoot up quite quickly.

etc, etc.

It's all in the mind.

;-))

Aw guys,

I'm humbled by your kindness. I think at the moment the inter-connectedness of our respective blogs and the sheer quality of ideas and writing is inspiring all of us to go that extra inch (the extra inch is most important ;-)), not just you two but all of the rabble of ecclectic bloggers who are keeping track of what we are doing. Different styles and different viewpoints, different approaches, philosophies, it's really special.

The hardest thing for me is being inspired by all your work whilst struggling not to become derivative of it.

Interesting points though folks, How do we do it?

I haven't got a clue. Personally, I'm not a technician. I don't think I ever can be.

I'm a zoner, I need to get into that area of thought where you just let your mind run with ideas and associations, possibilities.

I suppose the way it all comes out is spontaneous. I don't compose I just write it out. Very little or no editing (usually just punctuation) but I have recently started to tickle them up a bit, the odd word here or there.

I've found that I can't edit too much even if something doesn't work. I feel that doing so diminishes the vibrancy and honesty of it. It's virually impossible to get back into a zone once you've been sprung out of it. You just can't re-create the thought path and patterns, the emotions of that place once you've released the muse.

oh heck, I'm getting all Greek on you :-)

That's it really, isn't it?

Should we try to define the muse?

Thanks again for the comments. It means a lot to me
